Yesterday our first 15 opened the defense of their league division one campaign against a committed Sundays Well side in very testing conditions.

Thomond opened the scoring with a try by Ryan Ahern after 10 minutes, Sundays Well responded with a penalty to make the score 5-3. Jamie McGarry scored just before the break to make it 10-3 at half time. 

Second half kicked off with Thomond on the attack, with a try coming from first half substitute Joe Costelloe converted by Jason Kiely to leave the score Thomond 17 Sundays Well 3. Soon after good work from the Thomond forwards and backs to capture a bonus point try from number 8 Ryan Ahern. A Fine individual effort by Dean O’Brien in beating a number of defenders to leave  the score Thomond 29 Sundays Well 3. Further tries followed by Eoghain Sherlock and Shane Kelly. Sundays Well responding with a try to leave the score Thomond 41 Sundays Well 8. Thomond ended the game with a penalty goal from Man of the Match Jason Kiely to leave a score of 44-8. 

A couple of injuries were sustained during the game, so hopefully good news in the next 24 hours.
